The McLean County Bar Association (MCBA) was founded in 1831. The First Judicial Circuit Court was created this same year and held in James Allen's double log cabin. By 1874 there were 50 lawyers practicing in McLean County, and today the MCBA has grown to over 200 members. Located in central Illinois, and surrounded by the pleasant rural feel of farmland, rivers, and lakes, it is a prosperous community, rich in opportunities for business, cultural diversity, education, and history. The MCBA was established for many purposes: including, the promotion of administration of justice, to establish and maintain the honor and dignity of the legal profession, to promote the general welfare of its members, and to sponsor and support continuing legal education in all areas of the law. The MCBA continues to grow and change to meet the dynamic legal needs of the community it serves. McLean County Bar Association |
